I'm always in search of a great mascara. I am a consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics and their Ultimate mascara is by far my favorite, although I wish it was water resistant. I have yet to find another mascara that comes to close to doing what the Ultimate does, which is volumizes, thickens, and lengthens all in one.
So, I've been seeing these ads for Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara and I had a coupon, so I thought I would test it to see how it compares to the Ultimate.
I was disappointed. I put three coats on the first time I used it, letting it dry in between and instead of building the coverage, it made my lashes look skinnier because it "glued" them together. I have blonde-tipped lashes and instead of lengthening them, it made the tops of my lashes look spider-y.
Also, the brush was very big but the bristles were not, which is what I expected due to the commercials. The only good thing was the waterproof part, but most waterproof mascaras hold up on that end.
Perhaps this mascara is not buildable and three coats wasn't appropriate. So, the next time I used it, I put on one coat. You couldn't really tell I had on mascara. Definitely not enough of the coverage I wanted.
So, bummer on this end. Just thought you'd like to know.

I *heart* Mary Kay. Seriously. I do not want to put anything else on my face. I'm really wanting to try the mineral stuff, but I'm not sure which of the light ones I should get. I'm thinking Ivory one will be too light, but I'm afraid Ivory 2 will be too yellow.
I use alot of Mary Kay also, BUT my favorite mascara is Almay intense i-color volumizing mascara in raisin quartz. Makes my green eyes POP, is light and easy wearing. But each of us wears our makeup different. I like my makeup minimal and this mascara works well for me. :) Thanks for sharing!
